Well well well, if it hasn't been a minute or two since I was last able to spend some time with my baby! February has been one heck of a month for me and I'm loving every minute of it. The addition of the raver flu after this past weekend's gigs hasn't exactly given me a boost either but what can you do! We're back at it with some free business today and we've got a new comer to the blog putting down the chunky bassline business. Home Alone is nominated for "Best New Producer" at this year's Breakspoll Awards and when you are turning out bangers like this one, it's no wonder why. Returning with his first Breaks single in a minute, Meat Katie dropped "Bizarre is Beautiful" about a month ago to a hungry fan base and they gobbled it up. One of the masterminds of Tech-Funk, Meat has also made the parts available for remixes if you fancy having a stab at the next dancefloor rocker on LOT49. They are not available for a competition or anything but if you whip up some serious business, they may just be apt to sign it! Taking the original for a complete 180, Home Alone puts both hands on the wheel and puts her in D while mashing the pedal to the floor. Thick kicks and tough snares bring an air of darkness to the piece while the creepy vox maintains the theme and melodic pads filter in as the energy continues to increase. Driving low ends push you along to the main breakdown which makes good use of the Insomnia-like leads. Check them both out below and grab the parts to the original while you are at it.
Yes that's right everybody, you have two chances to catch the S&D boys this weekend. First up they will be bringing their 2x4 business to Mushroom Kingdom 2 in Baltimore for a wicked night of Mario Land fun. Catch the boys in their first appearance in the D.C. area on Saturday evening and get there early to ensure entry as it will sell out. Then on Sunday it's off to NYC for one of the ever popular "Glow" parties. This time around it's "Naughty Neon" so girls get on your brightest intimates and come on out to see Sneaker & The Dryer ripping it up at the Electric Avenue in Brooklyn! Don't forget to head on over to S&D's Soundcloud page for a boat load of free tunas and make sure to come up and introduce yourselves, I'll be sporting the wicked hawk.
Hidey ho neighbors, I apologize for a bit of a lack of content this week, we were having some internet issues here at the studio. We have had some spiffy new wiring installed so it's all gravy now. Kicking things back into gear for us is long time staple to NSB Radio, Scott Remedy. The windy city native hosts "Breakbeat Chicago weekly on Friday nights and when he's not throwing down some proper cover action, Scott is keeping himself locked in his liar perfecting his craft. Today we have Deekline & Ed Solo's wicked tuna "Blowout" the Deekline & Product 01 Remix with Scott Remedy on the Re-Rub up for grabs. Scott adds a clean break to the 4/4 business and some slick change-ups, edits and fills. Retaining the original feel and wobbling bassline, this is a must have for the Breaks heads. Amidst his busy schedule, Scott took some time out to give us his version of the Kick It 12. Check out what he had to say below and head on over to his Soundcloud page for a gang load of free rubs, edits and more.

Happy Valentine's Day boys and girls. Kick It Recordings here reminding you to be caring and sharing, roll up a nice phatty for you and your loved one and puff & pass! Returning to Kick It with his first original on the label, Canadian native Van Tek brings us "Puff & Pass". Delivering the four to the floor Electro House business, "Puff & Pass" lights it up with big wonky bass laced over tough beats rolled up nice and tight with vocal stabs and sticky squelches. Butthead makes a cameo along with a Dubstep change-up and a proper bubbler used as the perfect edit for a song about Not Bogarting. Fusing the elements together like a beautiful nugget, Van Tek delivers us a Rave style bomb that will keep you lifted. Starting things off on remix duties we have Diesel Laws with his first tuna on Kick It. Coming from the land down under, Diesel Laws puts together a wicked piece with thick kicks and heaps of energy. Making good use of the original bits, Diesel Laws takes things even higher with a swinging reworked bassline and scratch fills. We've got another wicked one for you today just in time for your weekend gigs! New comers to the blog PARTYSMARTIE and Blah Blah Blah are bringing the business in a big way. Both hailing from LA, the two have teamed up for "Gang Bang", a peak time party rocker. Heavy synths and low grinding bass kick things off while crunchy snares and mini rolls add a Breakbeat feel to a more 4/4 tune. Squelching riffs and raunchy subs work you through the first breakdown closing it out with a gun cocking and the voice in your speakers letting you know "your ears are about to bleed" and then dropping down to silence for a brief moment before the shit hits the fan. Slamming in comes a full on onslaught of audio carnage complete with a weighty bassline, loads of zaps and bleeps and a good dose of heavy breathing just to creep you out a bit. Heaps of change ups, edits, and fills keep the energy through the roof from start to finish. Checkout both PARTYSMARTIE and Blah Blah Blah's Soundcloud pages for more free big tunas and wall shakers.
It's that time of year again to get your votes in for the 10th Annual International Breakbeat Awards known as Breakspoll. 2010 was an awesome year for Kick It Recordings and things are only getting bigger and better as we head through 2011. We'd love to win an award or two at this year's Breakspoll so we've posted a few of our suggestions below. If all of our friends out there could take a moment to send a few votes our way, that would be excellent! Don't forget to check your junk email for the confirmation link that you need to click on in order to verify your votes. Thanks for the support and enjoy the tunes, Kick It!!
Now I know what you may be thinking, more Eminem. No no, there will be none of that today. Not to say that I am not a huge fan of his because I am, but his hooks are a bit over used in remixes. That being said, you will find a bit of Clipse used in this one as well as a great vocal from Hev-D. "Round The Outside" starts off with a chunky break while the S&D Boys make excellent use of the "When's The Last Time" vox Ft. Pharrel and chop it up like a butcher. Squelching bass and disco stabs work you through to the first breakdown instructing you to "turn up the volume and turn up the bass". A driving bassline and big booty girls are waiting for you as this tuna gets down to business with authority. From party to party this one is sure to keep the club rocking. Grab it for free and check out tons more free stuff from Sneaker & The Dryer on their Soundcloud page including their new mix "Don't Take None" which is also below, when's the last time you heard it like this!

The Kick It 12 - Atomic Drop Edition
1. –At what age did you first find yourself gravitating towards Electronic music and who were some of the artists outside of Electronic music that influenced that? Cameron: We all got into Electronic music in our teens. Before that we all played in Rock and Metal bands... influenced by the sounds of bands like Sepultura, Chilli Peppers, NIN, Skinny Puppy and GnR. We came to Electronica via Raves, so I think we were always into a wide variety of styles, from Drum & Bass and Hip Hop to Techno and Acid House.
2. –What was your very first Album? How about CD? Cameron: "Great Balls of Fire" was the first cassette tape I bought. My first CD was a Sepultura album.
3. –How did you first get involved with the Electronic music culture and what was the first event that you attended? Cameron: We got involved by going to Raves and parties...the one that stands out was the Warp! Experience at the old Drome AKA SE1 in the late 90's. We eventually got involved with putting on parties and events after meeting at the Warp! and fast forward 10 years and we're pooling our talents and resources into Atomic Drop.
4. –Where was your favorite gig that you have had to date? Cameron: Elecrtic Circus at the Scala. Epic event and we rocked it playing a 3 man live set. It was a themed night "Lunatics take over the asylum", so there was a really fun vibe, with great costumes, sexy pole dancers, cabaret and acrobatics....we are looking forward to the next one.
5. -Who have you been most proud to play alongside? Cameron: We've had the good fortune to play alongside some of our favorite artists: Underworld, Booka Shade, Sub Focus, Utah Saints, Faithless, Tinnie Tempah, Finlay Quaye, Adam Freeland, Dirty Loud, Hybrid, The Rogue Element, Far Too Loud, Elite Force, General Midi, Miles Dyson, Tim Healey and Tom Real.
6. -Where would you most like to play that you have not yet? Cameron: I think Canada probably next on the list. They have a great scene and love EDM.
7. -What is your favorite tune you have released? Cameron: R U Red E out on Bazooka Records soon is my fave so far, although we have some really fat unreleased stuff that is even better! Keep your eyes peeled.
8. -Who is your favorite EDM artist? How about outside of EDM? Cameron: I keep saying it..Dada Life are smashing it these days. Outside of EDM its probably the music of Maynard James Keenan and his bands Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
9. - Who are some artists you would like to collaborate with in the future? Cameron: Dada Life obvioulsy! and I'd love to get in the studio with Skrillex and Noisia to see how the hell they get the sounds so big.
10. -What is your preferred software for producing? Hardware? Cameron: Ableton Live, Cubase 5, Studio One, Logic, NI.Massive. Since there are 3 of us we have got every DAW package and we like to use all of them. Hardware wise we use the SH101 a fair bit.
11. -What life lessons has the music industry taught you? Cameron: To work hard and have the right attitude for success. The EDM industry is constantly in a state of flux and being able to ride different waves and different styles is vital for longevity. Its important not to pigeon hole yourself ino one style.
12. –What does the future hold for “Atomic Drop” Cameron: New releases out soon on Bazooka Records, some remixs for Broken records, collaboration and music video with Tim Healey, singles planned on Massive Music, lots of summer gigs including The Arcadia Stage at Glastonbury, The Mad Hatters Ball with Miles Dyson and the Broken crew.
Do you have a gig to head out to this weekend? Do you also need some new fire to drop for the masses? How about a new mix for your listening pleasure to bump on the way to said gig as well. Well, fear not because the Kick It Blog has got your back. One of the original members of the Kick It family, J2K has been generating some serious buzz as of late. With multiple chart toppers under his belt and a steady stream of gigs around the country, things are just heating up for this Jacksonville native. Continuously pushing his sound in the Florida scene since 2000, his persistence is beginning to pay off. Establishing a strong following playing at top venues across the state such as Laundry Bar in Miami, Club Destiny in Orlando, The Blue Room in Jacksonville, Ultra & WMC and many more, his sound is reaching farther and farther every day. Nearing his twentieth release, J2K is back with another big edit for our faithful readers. Far Too Loud has long been one of the top names in Breakbeats and he continues to pound out banger after banger. One of his latest works, "Start the Party" is another example of why the name Far Too Loud is known far and wide. Massive in every way "Start the Party" has had it's bits rearranged by an artist or two already and J2K steps up this time turning out a wicked Re-Rub. An all new intro allows you to sneak those synths into the mix as they filter in along with the C&C vox. Making full use of FTL's monster bassline, it comes slamming in with authority getting the party started quickly. Maintaining most of the business end, J2K spices things up with some added samples, effects and edits making for a proper floor rocker. Keeping the Freebies coming, we also have J2K's 2011 WMC Promo Mix. Jam packed with more tasty morsels than a jar of Smuckers, J2K delivers the goods on the mixing end as well. Artists like BSD, FTL, Farace and Deenk make an appearance as well as a big forthcoming one from Kick It "Feel That Ammunition". Pop it in your player and rock the funky beats J2K stylee.
Forever keeping the freebies flowing, we have got another one up for grabs. Keeping things fresh we've got a new comer to the blog today and he is bringing the business with him! Brazilian native FTampa, AKA Felipe Tampa, began taking music seriously at age thirteen when he started playing the keys. He continued picking up new instruments throughout his teens and by eighteen he had learned to play the drums, bass and guitar as well. Intrigued by the endless possibilities available to him via electronic music, FTampa plunged into the realm of production and the art of Djing soon thereafter. Keeping his head down and working hard he was able to release his first EP on Plasmapool a mere six months later. Currently signed with Big Fish Recordings, Burn the Fire and Big Alliance Records, FTampa is quickly establishing himself in the Electro House empire. With nearly one thousand downloads already, FTampa's remix of "Feel It" from Three 6 Mafia Ft. Tiesto, Flo-Rida and Sean Kingston is a dancefloor annihilator. Clubby kicks and crisp snares get things going as the vox filters in peaking on the first break. Anthemy synths and the "Feel It" hook make for a peak time breakdown building it up just in time for the filthy bassline to make itself known. Heavy edits and ample wobble work you through to the main interlude. Vocoded vocals, Flo-Rida's lyrics, Hip Hop beats and massive sweeps make for an epic build wasting no time getting back down to the biz. With plenty of other bangers under his belt, this is some serious stuff from a relative newcomer. Head on over to Beatport and Soundcloud to see what else FTampa has got up his sleeve.
What were you doing when you were fifteen? Most of us were trying to score a joint and cop some boob. Not Charlie Kane though, he's already bangin out massive club rippers. Not even old enough to drive here in the states, never mind in France, Charlie Kane is already receiving support from the likes of Orbitol, Stereo MCs, Crystal Method, Leroy Thornhill, Maelstrom and more, doesn't that make you wish you spent a bit more time making beats and a bit less time trying to get in some girls pants! Charlie Kane's new EP "Bass Invaderz" is due out tomorrow on Bleach Feast Records and it is definitely going to turn some heads and ears!
Fresh from his first remix alongside mentor Crystal Distortion, which had the likes of Laurent Garnier saying 'will hammer everywhere' and was spectacularly well received across the board, he is back with a scorching vengeance to ruff up your bass bins and pin you to the walls begging for mercy and his phone number. Growing up within the renegade dancefloor matrix of Spiral Tribe, he is bringing the sound of the hardcore to a whole new generation and unleashing everything he learned inside the eye of the Spiral onto this heaving EP. As he dances through styles like an alien laser through butter, the Prodigy need to start rethinking their name as Charlie Kane rips the mixes out of the shadows. "Bass Invaderz" is a slice of absolutely gobsmacking up front bassline House mayhem, ripping a clinically indecent modular monstrosity out of the bag and slapping its uncut energy ruthlessly down on the deck, ready to blow an unsuspecting crowd to the planet's molten core and back. Piling on the Tech -Funk pressure with the gloriously banging frequency wizardry of Kaning It, the relentless, synthseised onslaught rampages clean through the frontiers of improbability as Mr Kane steps to and slaps you silly with raw, pulsating energy, cutting a hypnotic groove straight through your frontal cortex. Straight back onto the Tech-Funk tip with "Off the Grid", that rustles up searing, all embracing basslines and hurls them into the digital blender with a mesmerising journey through the edges of Techno while the dripping Electro wrongness of Pumping Down winds up into a writhing, scything orgy of pure controlled frenzy. Finally, label bosses Kech drop a controlled, minimal banger of a remix to top off this slamming release......Step to the Kane - he is gonna be HUGE
We've also got a wicked freebie from Kane up for grabs as well. Ticking the download box on one of his originals, "Did You Catch That" is a rough and wobbly banger with killer vocals and a driving yet groovy bassline. Airy pads round out the package with a touch of Psy while the chunky kicks bounce you along. Top stuff from such a young producer!
Rounding out the package, Charlie Kane has also released his "Bass Invaderz" Promo Mix for your listening pleasure. Chock full of the Tech-Funk business, Kane whips together some of the freshest funk for you to get down to. Sixty minutes of pulsing beats shuffling hats and oscillating basslines to spice up your week.
